Silver fishing on the Kenai River in September and October can be some of the most exciting fishing of the entire year. The Kenai is well known as a top producer for large silver salmon with many fish exceeding the 20 pound range.

You will be fishing for these aggressive biters in what is known as the lower section of the Kenai River. This area is within the tidal zone so the fish you catch are fresh and feisty. From early August into early to mid September this is our preferred area for silvers. As September moves on we occasionally will follow the main body of silvers into the middle section to keep the anglers in the best fishing possible.

Alaska Silver Salmon Fishing Trips on the Kenai River!

These fish are some of the prettiest in the river. They have greenish-blue backs with silver sides. Small black spots on the back, dorsal fin and usually on the upper lobe of the tail only.

Spawning Coho Salmon develop green and black heads and dark brown to maroon bodies. They start entering into the river towards the end of July and are here until fall.

These fish are great to catch because they put up such an amazing fight!! They grow up to about 35 inches and most average weight is 8-15 lbs. They have a firm texture and such an awesome taste. They are great when smoked or when simply fried in a pan with some seasoning. They are also good for freezing and enjoying it later.
