Alaska Fishing — Charity Events

Every year Alaska Fishing & Lodging is active in raising money and donating time to help those who are in need as well as those that we owe a debt of gratitude too. Below is a list of local and national charity events that we are currently involved with. We encourage everyone to get involved to make the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska and our nation a better and more compassionate place to live.

Charities and Special Events

Alaska Lodging and Fishing believes that everyone who uses the world's resources should give back to help protect or show others the wonders of the world. Here are the charities and events that we are involved with.

Take a veteran Fishing Day
Each year on September 11, Veterans Day, Kenai River Professional Guides Assoc., KRPGA members volunteer to take over 100 veterans and active duty military personnel fishing at no cost. This is a way of saying thank you to the individuals who have valiantly served, and are serving, our country.

Take a kid Fishing Day
KRPGA volunteers around 35 guide boats donate one day and take 80 kids and 10 adults out on the Kenai and Kasilof River for some fishing and fun. For a lot of kids it there 1st time going fishing on the Kenai River or fishing for the 1st ever.
The kids get Mc. Donnalds for breakfast donated by Soldotna Mc. Donnalds.
In 2003 we started giving all kids a fishing pole or tackle box. I want again to thank all of you that has helped or donated to this event.

Return of the Salmon Celebration
This event was started in 2003 and Co Chaired by John Nelson and Tyland Van Lier
This event is where we go to our local senior home and visit and cook them a salmon lunch. The first year we feed 80 people Im happy to say in 2005 we feed around 200 and gave a rose to all the residents of Heritage Home.
I also want to thank all that has helped John and I with this event.

• Teach A Kid To Fish Day
This Event is a joint effort between various groups that include Alaska Department of Fish and Game, the KRSA, KRPGA, US Coast Guard and many other volunteers, children aged 6 to 12 have the opportunity to learn about one of Alaska’s most valuable resources. In years past, between 800 and 1200 children have attended this event in a single day. The KRPGA has been involved in this event in this event since
1999.

If you would like to spend a great day donating your time helping on any of these special events, feel free to call us and let us know how you want to help.

If you do not have time to donate, we are always looking to buy rods and reels for the take a kid fishing day, or we need fresh fish or dishes for the Return of the Salmon Celebration.
